Harvest celebration

This takes place on Thursday. The children are having an assembly in the morning and then we would like all the children to join us for a celebration lunch. Remember it is free! There is a colouring competition for all those who have the lunch.
We are collecting for the Food Bank and welcome donations of tins and packets.
Thank you.

Solid, liquid or gas?

Following on from the magic potion making last week today we looked at different substances and what form they take. Some children then showed us how    the particles behave in a solid, liquid or gas .
Can you guess which one is which from the photos?

Super Heroes!

Well done to all the children for remembering to come dressed as super heroes. They all looked fantastic . Owls class were taught by ' Super Teacher' . We have been reliably informed that Mrs Fishlock and Mrs Waters are returning next week!thank you very much for your donations to the Air Ambulance appeal.

Metre wands

We carried on with our numeracy carousel today . One group made Winnie's wand from lengths of paper . They had to make it exactly a metre long by checking its length using a metre stick. The children thought the best part was decorating their wands!

Winnie potions

In numeracy we have had a carousel of activities. One of them involved estimating the amount of liquid  in a variety of colourful potions, and then measuring accurately . The other activities involved measuring wands with a ruler and making metre wands for Winnie the Witch.

Dream catchers

Over the last few weeks we have been making dream catchers using paper plates, pens , wool , beads and feathers .They have taken ages to complete but the children are really pleased with the end result.

Using Aurasma

This term we are trying out different ways to use the iPads. When the children viewed the question picture they saw a link to a question about materials with a video of Mr O Reilly asking them what would happen if underpants were made of glass! Ask them what they said.

Magic potions!

Do you need a potion to turn someone into a frog? The Owls might have the answer!
Today we have had great fun making foaming potions and also finding out what happens to different substances in water. Ask the children what we have found out.
We have also been writing lists of ingredients for Winnie's potions.

Science treasure hunt

Can you find something made of metal? Can you find something smooth? Owls had great fun finding the clues around school as an introduction to our materials topic.  Please ask the children what they found out.
